Housing starts, consumer sentiment

U.S. stocks swung between small gains and losses Thursday as upbeat data on Americans' spending habits helped to ease investor fears about a coming recession. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 25 points, or 0.12%, a day after the blue-chip index slid 800 points--its biggest decline this year. The S&P 500 added less than 0.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.2%. US / China trade concerns took a breather.

Currently, the TSX is down 0.19% and the DJIA is up 0.39%. EURCAD is down 0.12% trading between 1.4792 and 1.4871. GBPCAD is up 0.70% trading between 1.6026 and 1.6174. JPYCAD is down 0.23% trading between 0.01246 and 0.01259. Gold is down 0.17% trading between $1,508 and $1,524USD/oz, silver is down 0.28% trading between $17.10 and $17.38USD/oz, while oil (WTI crude) is down 1.23% trading between $53.78 and $55.30.
