World stocks held near record highs on Thursday and the dollar fluttered after minutes of the latest U.S. Federal Reserve meeting showed policy makers in no big hurry to raise interest rates. U.S. and euro zone government bond yields fell or held steady as the minutes did nothing to firm up expectations of a rate rise in March. That remains a slim prospect, with futures pricing in only an 18 per cent chance, according to the CME Group's FedWatch tool. The minutes showed many Fed policy makers said it may be appropriate to raise rates "fairly soon" if jobs and inflation data met expectations. But they also highlighted deep uncertainty over President Donald Trump's economic program. Many in markets expect rates to rise in June. Currently, the TSX is up 0.17% and the DOW is up 0.21%. EURCAD is down 0.17% trading between 1.3847 and 1.3899. GBPCAD is up 0.10% trading between 1.6339 and 1.6410. JPYCAD is up 0.15% trading between 0.01160 and 0.01163. Gold is up 0.90% trading between $1,236 and $1,249USD/oz., silver is up 1.25% trading between $17.95 and $18.22USD/oz., while oil is up 1.37% trading between $53.85 and $54.87.
