U.S. stocks slipped with Treasuries, while gold advanced as caution rippled through the markets after Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen all but assured investors that interest rates will rise next week. Market implied odds of a rate hike are now close to 100%. With Fed speakers now in a blackout period until their March 14-15 meeting, traders will pay close attention to economic data, particularly Friday's job report, to discern changes to the outlook. Deutsche Bank AG's management approved plans yesterday that include raising about $8.5B in an equity sale. The measures, which amount to an abandonment of Chief Executive Officer John Cryan's own turnaround plan, also mean that Germany's largest lender will put its investment banking and trading units back together. Shares in the bank were down at 2:10am PST. Premier Li Keqiang said at Sunday's National People's Congress in Beijing that China's 2017 growth target is around 6.5%, close to the 2016 target of 6.5-7%. He warned of profound changes in the international political and economic landscape, citing rising protectionism and the undoing of globalization as key challenges for policy makers. Currently, the TSX is down 0.17% while the DOW is down 0.41%. EURCAD is down 0.02% trading between 1.4172 and 1.4239. GBPCAD is down 0.22% trading between 1.6394 and 1.6467. JPYCAD is up 0.38% trading between 0.01172 and 0.01178. Gold is down 0.42% trading between $1,228 and $1,236USD/oz., silver is down 0.84% trading between $17.79 and $17.96USD/oz., while oil is up 0.09% trading between $52.79 and $53.54.
