Energy shares led gains in the S&P 500 as Libya's biggest oil field suffered another outage while Russia signaled it's weighing an extension of OPEC-led production cuts. French bonds fell, widening the yield spread over Germany to the highest since February after polls showed the country's presidential election is becoming a 4 way contest. European stocks traded mostly sideways as equities in France gave up ground. At 1p.m. PST Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will speak at the University of Michigan, with the event including a session where she will take questions from the audience and via Twitter. At an event in New York on Friday, Fed Vice-Chairman William Dudley downplayed the length of any pause in short-term rate normalized after the Fed starts shrinking its balance sheet. With Friday's jobs data showing unemployment at the lowest level in almost 10 years, the Fed may tighten faster, or just lower their estimate for the level at which low unemployment becomes inflationary. Currently, the TSX is up 0.19% while the DOW is up 0.42%. EURCAD is down 0.17% trading between 1.4132 and 1.4213. GBPCAD is up 0.24% trading between 1.6565 and 1.6635. JPYCAD is down 0.41% trading between 0.01200 and 0.01206. Gold is down 0.20% trading between $1,1247 and $1,255USD/oz., silver is down 0.84% trading between $17.75 and $18.02USD/oz., while oil is up 1.09% trading between $52.28 and $52.97.
