The dollar surrendered short-lived gains on Tuesday as concerns about the U.S. economy and politics returned to the fore ahead of a Federal Reserve meeting, while a lack of catalysts kept Asian stocks subdued. The dollar earlier rose on expectations the Fed will signal at a meeting starting later on Tuesday its readiness to begin reducing its bond portfolio at its September meeting. Currently, the TSX is up 0.81% and the DOW is up 0.41%. EURCAD is up 0.27% trading between 1.4548 and 1.4627. GBPCAD is up 0.21% trading between 1.6353 and 1.6324. JPYCAD is down 0.22% trading between 0.01120 and 0.01127. Gold is down 0.17% trading between $1,249 and $1,258USD/oz., silver is up 0.38% trading between $16.25 and $16.62USD/oz., while oil is up 1.70% trading between $46.41 and $47.40.
