Advisors to President Donald Trump have given him a final list of candidates to take over as Federal Reserve chair when Janet Yellen's term ends early next year. Former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh, who has drawn fire from both left and right, is among the leading candidates. Jeffrey Gundlach, the head of DoubleLine Capital, said that Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari will get the job, which would no doubt catch markets off guard. While it was another day, another record high for U.S. stocks yesterday, the momentum has not carried across the workd. In Europe, the Stoxx 600 Index was down 0.2% at 2:50am as Spanish markets again led the losses, while S&P 500 futures also slipped. The 10 year Treasury yield was at 2.318% and gold was higher. Overnight, the MSCI Asia Pacific Index gained 0.3% while Japan Topix index closed unchanged. At 11:15am today, Yellen speaks at an event at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Currently, the TSX is down 0.01% while the DOW is up 0.06%. EURCAD is up 0.05% trading between 1.4647 and 1.4690. GBPCAD is up 0.27% trading between 1.6520 and 1.6587. JPYCAD is down 0.09% trading between 0.01106 and 0.01108. Gold is up 0.17% trading between $1,270 and $1,282USD/oz., silver is up 0.39% trading between $16.54 and $16.88USD/oz., while oil is up 0.01% trading between $50 and $50.63.
