Bipartisan efforts to broker a deal to end the government shutdown failed to find agreement over the weekend, meaning disruptions will expand this morning for Americans as federal agencies begin closing at the start of their normal workweek. The Washington blame game also goes into full swing, with Senators including South Carolina Republican Lindsay Graham holding up President Donald Trump's staff for complicating talks with their hard line on immigration. Despite the drama, the shutdown continues to be seen as a little more than a blip for markets and the U.S. economy, for now. Currently, the TSX is down 0.20% and the DOW is down 0.01%. EURCAD is up 0.13% trading between 1.5230 and 1.5305. GBPCAD is up 0.46 trading between 1.7298 and 1.7388. JPYCAD is down 0.46% trading between 0.01122and 0.01127. Gold is up 0.19% trading between $1,328 and $1,335USD/oz., silver is up 0.17% trading between $16.94 and $17.08USD/oz., while oil is up 0.17% trading between $63.14 and $63.59.
