The recovery in global stocks endures, with the markets taking their cue from Friday's strong U.S. performance. Overnight, the MSCI Asia Pacific Index advanced 0.8%, while Japan's Topix index closed 0.8% higher with telecoms and drugmakers leading the gains. In Europe, the Stoxx 600 Index rose 0.5%. The bond market has paused the push for 3% on the 10-year Treasury yield as it awaits Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's address to Congress this week, kicking off with the House Financial Services Committee tomorrow. A number of veteran central-bank watchers suggest Powell may be willing to accept inflation as high as 2.5% as the monetary authority seeks to extend the almost 9-year U.S. expansion. Meanwhile today, European Central Bank President Mario Draghi is schedules to face lawmakers in Brussels, as the crisis in Latvia seems certain to dominate the question-and-answer session. Currently, the TSX is up 0.16% and the DOW is up 0.71%. EURCAD is up 0.92% trading between 1.5532 and 1.5626. GBPCAD is up 0.52% trading between 1.7661 and 1.7804. JPYCAD is up 0.62% trading between 0.01180 and 0.01188. Gold is up 0.33% trading between $1,326 and $1,341USD/oz., silver is up 0.57% trading between $16.47 and $16.76USD/oz., while oil is down 0.04% trading between $63.08 and $63.86.
