Stocks in the U.S. rose amid a flurry of dealmaking at the start of another busy week for earnings and economic news. The 10-year treasury yield held steady just below 3% after the U.S. Commerce department reported a pick up in consumer spending in March and inflation hit the Federal Reserve's 2% target, reinforcing the outlook for further interest-rate hikes. Company results and economic numbers, including U.S. employment figures, will continue to roll in this week, while monetary policy and benchmark yields will remain a major focus as the Fed meets for its next interest rate decision. Currently, the TSX is up 0.09% while the DOW is up 0.53%. EURCAD is down 0.42% trading between 1.5470 and 1.5592. GBPCAD is down 0.07% trading between 1.7628 and 1.7790. JPYCAD is down 0.35% trading between 0.01170 and 0.01177. Gold is down 0.72% trading between $1,310 and $1,324USD/oz., silver is down 1.18% trading between $16.19 and $16.54USD/oz., while oil is up 0.29% trading between $67.18 and $68.45.
