U.S. stocks extended gains following a rally in Europe and oil rose past $70 a barrel as traders braced for renewed U.S. sanctions on Iran. The S&P 500 advanced for a 2nd day, led by energy and tech stocks. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index climbed, though trading volumes in the region were lighter than usual thanks to a holiday in the U.K. In Asia, shares rose in Australia and Shanghai. The yen fell as Japanese traders returned from holidays, while the EUR also weakened. Ten-year Treasury yields fluctuated near 2.95%. Currently, the TSX is up 0.68% and the DOW is up 0.57%. EURCAD is down 0.20% trading between 1.5331 and 1.5388. GBPCAD is up 0.37% trading between 1.7385 and 1.7453. JPYCAD is up 0.07% trading between 0.01176 and 0.01181. Gold is down 0.04% trading between $1,310 and $1,319USD/oz., silver is down 0.24% trading between $16.40 and $16.58USD/oz., while oil is up 0.85% trading between $69.71 and $70.76.
