U.S. stocks fluctuated and the dollar rallied as investors weighed fresh tariffs against the pending outcome of the latest trade talks with China and Mexico. Treasuries edged higher ahead of a meeting of central bankers. The S&P 500 was mixed in thin trading as traders awaited the end of a U.S.-China meeting after the two countries slapped tit-for-tat tariffs worth billions of dollars on each other. The dollar rose for the first time in six days, while the 10-year Treasury yield traded around 2.82 percent ahead of scheduled comments by Fed chairman Jerome Powell Friday. The euro fell as data showed factories taking a hit from higher raw-material costs and global trade tensions.Currently, the TSX is down 0.13% and the DOW is down 0.06%. EURCAD is up 0.38% trading between 1.5051 and 1.5135. GBPCAD is down 0.10% trading between 1.6755 and 1.6831. JPYCAD is down 0.03% trading between 0.01174 and 0.01175. Gold is down 0.33% trading between $1,186 and $1,195USD/oz., silver is down 0.45% trading between $14.53 and $14.73USD/oz., while oil is up 2.58% trading between $67.35 and $68.05.
