U.S. equities slipped as cautious investors await the Federal Reserve policy decision today at 11am and further news on the U.S.-China trade talks. Ten-year Treasury yields slipped. The S&P 800 Index opened lower and the USD ticker higher after 3 days of losses, while two-year Treasury yields remained below the top of the Fed's policy target range amid expectation of a dovish tone from the central bank. Apart from a hold on rate increases, markets will watch for any word on plans to end the Fed's current bond-portfolio run-down. The pound fell as U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May sought to extend the Brexit deadline to June 30, while opposition called for the public to have the final say over the country's EU exit. Currently, the TSX is down 0.35% and the DJIA is down 0.36%. EURCAD is up 0.17% trading between 1.5115 and 1.5158. GBPCAD is down 0.59% trading between 1.7520 and 1.7685. JPYCAD is up 0.09% trading between 0.01193 and 0.01197. Gold is down 0.21% trading between $1,301 and $1,309USD/oz, silver is down 0.45% trading between $15.27 and $15.41USD/oz, while oil is up 0.53% trading between $58.39 and $59.60.
