U.S. equities fluctuated near records as investors weighed expectation for easier monetary policy against rising tensions in the Middle East. Treasuries advanced, while the dollar edged lower. Investors in risk assets have continued to shrug off signs of a global economic slowdown and focus on the increasingly dovish tone at the central banks around the world. That attention will intensify Tuesday when Fed Chair Jerome Powell discusses monetary policy. But sentiment could be at a crossroads as the conflict between the U.S and Iran has ramped up, and the meeting between China's President Xi Jinping and Trump this week at the Group 20 conference in Japan presents a pivot for trade relations between the 2 counties. Currently, the TSX is up 0.09% and the DJIA is up 0.19%. EURCAD is up 0.09% trading between 1.5000 and 1.5048. GBPCAD is down 0.23% trading between 1.6769 and 1.6841. JPYCAD is down 0.23% trading between 0.01226 and 0.01229. Gold is up 0.67% trading between $1,398 and $1,411USD/oz, silver is up 0.48% trading between $15.29 and $15.43USD/oz, while oil (WTI crude) is down 0.10% trading between $57.20 and $58.20.
