European equities and U.S. stock futures edged higher on Thursday in a lackluster session marked by thin trading volumes thanks to the American holiday. Gold slipped but stayed above $1,400 and WTI futures fell. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index turned modestly higher, with real estate firms and telecoms boosting the gauge. Contracts on the S&P 500 Index also nudged up after Asia's benchmark finished higher overall thanks to gains in Japan and South Korea. Trading volumes were well below average across the board, with U.S. markets shut and investors counting down to Friday's American jobs report. Currently, the TSX is flat and the DJIA is closed for July 4th Holiday. EURCAD is down 0.18% trading between 1.4717 and 1.4761. GBPCAD is down 0.09% trading between 1.6408 and 1.6461. JPYCAD is down 0.11% trading between 0.01210 and 0.01213. Gold is down 0.20% trading between $1,410 and $1,421USD/oz while oil (WTI crude) is down 0.75% trading between $56.47 and $57.55.
